摘要: Previous work from this laboratory has shown mildly elevated dietary leucine to alter the rhythm of prolactin secretion and interfere with normal estrous cycling in intact female rat. In study, we have determined whether these observed effects on turn affected fertility, gestation, mammary gland development or morphology during lactation. Groups control leucine-supplemented mothers were mated tested male breeders a daily record was kept pup births, deaths general health pups. The day after weaning, tissue removed dams both groups prepared for histological examination. light previous results showing cycle interruption altered secretion, report what surprising lack effect supplementation maintenance gestation overall glands species. Interestingly, however, found markedly appearance lactating cause significant increase number litters that contained notably underdeveloped
