摘要: Abstract Microwave assisted facile synthesis of a fluorescent agarose- l -tryptophan hydrogel material employing carbodiimide chemistry (dicyclohexylcarbodiimide/4-dimethylaminopyridine; DCC/DMAP) has been described. The product formed at 1–1.5% (w/v), exhibiting fluorescence emission in water ( λ max 350 nm; 1 x 10 −4 M), which was significantly higher (ca. 65%) than that tryptophan the same concentration. Subsequently, agarose ester cross linked with natural linker genipin to yield blue (G-Ag-Trp Est ), confirming thereby insertion moiety on backbone. Both and hydrogels demonstrated gelling characteristics similar were stable across wide range pH media (pHs 1.2, 7.0 12.5) under ambient conditions. These containing materials may find applications biomedical pharmaceutical industries as potential radical scavengers sensors.
