摘要: Abstract Hydrological and morphological characteristics of streams rivers influence a wide array ecological processes patterns ; they define the aquatic habitat template. Interdisciplinary approaches are required to study physical-biological interactions increased collaboration between ecologists experts in morphology, hydrology hydraulic engineering is particularly desirable. In this paper, we present our experience modelling. particular, indicate how statistical instead mechanistic descriptions simplify input field data estimate instream suitability. We have also conducted significant biological validations model predictions expressed at fish community level. A better quantification suitability meaningful when associated with understanding large-scale governing stream equilibrium. context, knowledge bankfull discharge, which self-maintenance river morphology occurs, particular importance. The identification key variables periods for population dynamics vital challenging near future. greater will not only yield deeper insights into organization rivers, it improve ability predict flow alterations caused by various human activities affect these ecosystems. Our progresses depend mainly on produce biologically validated models.
