摘要: Five strains of Staphylococcus hyicus (3 subspecies and 2 chromogenes) were tested serologically for their ability to produce known unknown enterotoxin(s) also examined using monkey bioassays. None the 5 produced any detectable level enterotoxins A--E. However, all them emetic responses in or more 6 cynomologus monkeys when culture growth was fed intragastrically. One (S. hyicus, VII 76) 3 with 50 ml growth. The other 4 required 1 l broth (concentrated 20-fold) an response at least monkeys. Enterotoxin production is, therefore, not unique S. aureus species. Since some these organisms do coagulase thermonuclease, they would be ignored food hazard evaluation.
