摘要: Radioprotective property of Moringa oleifera leaves was investigated in healthy adult Swiss albino mice. Animals were injected (ip) with 150 mg/kg body weight 50% methanolic extract (ME) M. leaves, as a single dose, or 5 daily fractions 30 each, and exposed to whole gamma irradiation (RT, 4 Gy) 1 hr later. Five animals from each group sacrificed at 1, 2 7 days after treatment. Bone marrow protection studied by scoring aberrations metaphase chromosomes micronucleus induction polychromatic erythrocytes normochromatic erythrocytes. Pretreatment dose ME significantly reduced the percent aberrant cells 2/3rd that RT alone on day brought values normal range post-irradiation. A similar effect also seen for micronucleated cells. Fractionated administration (30 x 5) gave higher than given same administered inhibited Fenton reaction-generated free radical activity vitro concentration dependent manner. These results demonstrate pretreatment leaf confers significant radiation bone mice this may lead survival lethal irradiation.
