摘要: A somewhat unconventional traveling wave tube was built to investigate the nonlinear behavior of beam‐plasma instability beyond first trapping oscillation amplitude. In small cold beam limit, equations governing evolution are mathematically identical those describing tube. The has advantage that slow structure will remain linear for amplitudes reached in experiments; furthermore, it does not introduce noise. Five trapped particle oscillations observed following saturation a single launched wave.
