摘要: Abstract This study examined the responsiveness of developing ovaries to extracts heads mosquito Aedes aegypti and regulation that by juvenile hormone (JH). Ovaries 60-hr-old mosquitoes responded saline in vitro secreting ecdysone. isolated from 12-hr-old females did not respond significantly extracts, but developed vivo during previtellogenic phase growth, 24–60 hr after emergence. abdomens (and thus source JH, corpora allata (CA)) soon emergence grow or become responsive. However, topical application JH-I an analog (methoprene) induced growth ovaries, methoprene with greater effect than JH-I. Ovarian were functions dose applied abdomens. The system predicted results vivo, as 20-OH-ecdysone content CA ablated increased only 39 pg-ep when those animals blood fed, whereas sham-operated unoperated 188 pg-eq upon feeding.
