摘要: The modulatory effects of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT or serotonin) on voltage-gated currents in central olfactory neurones the moth Manduca sexta have been examined vitro using whole-cell patch-clamp recording techniques. Central were dissociated from antennal lobes animals at stage 5 18 stages metamorphic adult development. actions 5-HT voltage-activated ionic a subset morphologically identifiable lobe maintained for 2 weeks primary cell culture. caused reversible reduction both rapidly activating A-type K+ current and relatively slowly resembling delayed rectifier-type conductance. also reduced magnitude Ca2+ influx these cells. functional significance 5-HT-modulation is discussed.
