摘要: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum. Left untreated, disease progresses through four stages. Posterior segment involvement may occur at any stage of and include intermediate posterior uveitis, chorioretinitis, retinitis, retinal vasculitis, optic neuropathy. Diagnosis syphilis based on high level clinical suspicion supported combination treponemal-specific nontreponemal serological tests. All patients with newly diagnosed should be tested for coinfection human immunodeficiency virus, as risk factors are similar both diseases. Patients ocular treated neurosyphilis aqueous penicillin G or procaine plus probenecid.
