摘要: Purpose To evaluate whether the previously established benefit of blue light–filtering intraocular lenses (IOLs) when driving in glare conditions is maintained patients implanted with a toric IOL. Setting Department Applied Psychology, Arizona State University, Mesa, Arizona, USA. Design Comparative case series. Methods The study comprised IOL (test IOL) or an ultraviolet (UV)-only filtering nontoric (control IOL). All had good visual acuity and valid driver's license. While wearing best spherocylindrical correction, performed left-turn maneuvers front oncoming traffic simulator. safety margin was defined as time to collision less taken turn at intersection traffic. Measures were repeated source simulating low-angle sun (daytime driving). Results Of 33 evaluable patients, 18 test 15 control In presence glare, IOLs significantly greater margins (mean 2.676 seconds ± 0.438 [SD]) than 2.179 0.343 seconds) lower susceptibility ( P Conclusion produced reduction disability UV-only increased ability drivers safely execute left turns low-sun conditions.
