摘要: Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Trehala manna ( Shekar tighal ) is a cocoon-shaped produced by larval activity of Curculionidae family on some Echinops species. In Persian traditional medicine, it used not only for the treatment fever and constipation but also sore throat, influenza other viral bacterial infections which seems to be related its boosting effects immune system. The aim this study was evaluate immunomodulatory properties isolated polysaccharides. Materials methods Several carbohydrate macromolecules were from decoction using solvent–solvent extraction, ion exchange size-exclusion chromatography. characterized gas chromatography–mass spectrometry spectrophotometric methods. polysaccharides evaluated Jurkat cells at different concentrations WST-1 reagent. Results Seven water-soluble with structures rhamnogalacturonan, glucogalacturonan, manno-arabinogalacturonan or homogalacturonan molecular weights (MW) ≤1.67–667≤ kDa. Large MW ≥667 kDa pectin inhibited proliferation in dose-dependent manner IC 50 range 98.06–429.53 µg/mL. low (around 1 kDa) did show considerable cytotoxicity (IC >1000 µg/mL), contrast, they exhibited enhancement cell concentration 15.62–62.50 μg/mL. Conclusion aqueous showed line weight these revealed great impact their cytotoxic/proliferative properties.
