摘要: Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Water decoctions of the root bark, stem bark and leaves Terminalia macroptera are used by traditional healers in Mali to cure a wide range illnesses, such as wounds, hepatitis, malaria, fever, cough diarrhea well tuberculosis. Plant polysaccharides isolated from crude water extracts have previously shown effects related immune system. The aims this study comparing properties among different plant parts, relationship between chemical characteristics complement fixation activities when material has been extracted do, with boiling directly. Materials methods Root were water, five purified polysaccharide fractions obtained anion exchange chromatography gel filtration. Chemical compositions determined GC TMS derivatives methyl-glycosides linkage after permethylation GC–MS derived partly methylated alditol acetates. bioactivity was assay fractions. Results acidic fraction TRBD-I-I most active isolated. Structural studies showed that all pectic nature, containing rhamnogalacturonan type I backbone. Arabinogalactan II side chains present except TRBD-I-II. observed differences probably due monosaccharide compositions, types molecular sizes. Conclusion similar total activities, both higher than those leaves. good sources for bioactive polysaccharides. But sustainability, it is prefer use rather other two then dosage weight must be using
