摘要: Abstract The advance and retreat of a lake-breeze front in the urban, lakeshore environment Toronto was observed by two instrumented towers, one downtown business section other suburbs. In city, there greater temperature contrast between inland air incoming lake than over suburbs so that inversion accompanying advancing much more intense city. suburbs, associated with retreating had roughly same intensity duration as during advance. By contrast, heating city caused to appear only poorly defined period weak lapse isothermal conditions at tower. A simple model used estimate slopes thicknesses front. Results were promising but better knowledge speed travel is required. Estimates 1:11–1:61 obtained for slopes; estimated vary from 140 4000 m. Differences not relatable city/suburban contrasts surface roughness. It found concentrations suspended particulates affected on an hour-to-hour basis breeze, rather synoptic giving rise breeze; particular, light winds slow moving anticyclone. Similarly, total oxidants uneffected breeze.
