摘要: We studied the differential response to inhaled salbutamol and ipratropium of 29 asthmatic patients, 18 intrinsic, 11 extrinsic, using peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR), forced volume in one second (FEV1), vital capacity (FVC). Thirty minutes after a theoretically maximally bronchodilating dose (400 microgram) or (80 microgram), doses frequently caused further bronchodilatation. suspect that may reach bronchi untouched by first inhalation. Analysis variance showed powerful intrinsic versus extrinsic effect, there were clearly differences between patients their treatment (patient drug interaction) but these not removed dividing into groups. Results for group as whole favoured salbutamol, examination individual results pattern-recognition technique equally effective eight more three. All with definite predominant less than 40 years old. The declined significantly age, whereas did not. In general aged is choice. With advancing apparent decline beta-adrenergic responsiveness, initially comparatively small becomes relatively important predominate. older ipratropium, continued therapy both drugs, be preferable.
