摘要: The occurrence of influenza was followed in Tecumseh, Michigan during the five year period 1976-1981 by identifying onset acute respiratory illness and virus isolation serology. Type B outbreaks were observed 1976-1977 1979-1980, type A (H3N2) 1977-1978 1980-1981, (H1N1) viruses 1977-1978, 1978-1979, 1980-1981. Evidence low level circulation preceding an outbreak not obtained. Age-specific rates from specimens collected community physicians differed age-specific surveillance, suggesting operation a selection mechanism former. Symptoms associated with strongly influenced age. Within age groups, several variables, especially median duration, indicated had produced most severe illnesses, mildest, intermediate. infection determined serology for seasons confirmed consistently high children some fall-off increasing peaked aged 5-19 years 5-14 years. This may be related part to insensitivity hemagglutination inhibition test those under 5 Infection detected at frequency adults. Pathogenicity calculated based on serologic data. It estimated all ages combined that, minimum, febrile 25% cases 34% cases.
