摘要: The development of experimental disciform edema and necrotizing keratitis in the corneas or rabbits following intrastromal inoculation with RE strain herpes simplex virus is described. Following an initial episode conjunctivitis epithelial keratitis, a mild, centrally localized, stromal developed on fifth day. Stromal edema, opcification, neovascularization cornea reached maximum severity seventh to twenty-second day, began fade most eyes thereafter. On twenty-ninth day have attained resolved state characterized by subepithelial granular opacities. Several were observed which central keratitis. Marked similarities between animal model human herpetic apparent. Histological observations show that early rabbit infiltration plasma cells lymphocytes limbus, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, lymphocytes, macrophages cornea.
