摘要: Abstract Objective To evaluate the incidence of synchronous diagnosis rectal and prostate cancer to identify how role magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for preoperative staging has affected incidence. Methods Regional data from Swedish Colorectal Cancer Registry in Stockholm-Gotland area (two million inhabitants) between years 1995–2011 were used. Patients included when was diagnosed prior cancer. Medical records pre-treatment MRI retrospectively reviewed. Results Of 29,849 patients with either disease, made 29 (0.1%). Two 1995–1999, seven 2000–2005 20 2006–2011. The most common presentation, incidental finding during cancer, n = 20, those led 14 cases. At retrospective review, all had focal lesions on higher suspicion malignancy more locally advanced disease. Conclusion Synchronous are a rare entity, but strong increase is seen which may be attributed improved diagnostic methods, including use routine work-up
