摘要: To identify neurochemical phenotypes of esophageal myenteric neurons synaptically activated by vagal preganglionic efferents, we immunohistochemically detected the expression Fos, an immediate early gene product, in whole-mount preparations entire esophagus rats following electrical stimulation vagus nerves. When was applied to either cervical left (LVN) or right nerve (RVN), with nuclei showing Fos immunoreactivity (IR) were found comprise approximately 10% total esophagus. These increased from oral toward gastric end esophagus, highest frequency abdominal portion A significant difference not number between LVN-stimulated and RVN-stimulated Double-immunolabeling showed that nitric oxide synthase (NOS)-IR occurred most (86% 84% respectively) Furthermore, nerves resulted high proportions (71%-90%) NOS-IR, respect each segment, However, a small proportion (8% 7% exhibited choline acetyltransferase (ChAT)-IR. The occurrence-frequency ChAT-IR less than 4% any segment Some appeared be innervated numerous varicose ChAT-positive terminals. present results induces NOS-IR suggests preferential activation NOS efferents. This connectivity efferents intrinsic nitrergic might involved inhibitory actions on motility.
