摘要: Methyl group donors and intermediates of one-carbon metabolism affect DNA synthesis methylation, may thereby prostate carcinogenesis. Choline, the precursor betaine, metabolite sarcosine have been associated with increased cancer risk. Within JANUS, a prospective cohort in Norway (n = 317,000) baseline serum samples, we conducted nested case-control study among 3,000 cases controls. Using conditional logistic regression, odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for risk were estimated according to quintiles circulating dimethylglycine (DMG), sarcosine, glycine serine. High concentrations reduced borderline significance (sarcosine: highest vs. lowest quintile OR 0.86, CI 0.72-1.01, p(trend) 0.03; glycine: 0.83, 0.70-1.00, 0.07). Serum DMG serine not However, individuals high glycine/serine ratio at decreased (OR 0.74, 0.69-0.85, < 0.001). This population-based suggested that men or modestly Ratios metabolites reflecting balance be risk, as demonstrated ratio, should explored future studies.
