Poverty alleviation : a post-development perspective

摘要: This article looks at the traditional ways in which poverty is defined, arguing that they are generally based on material and economic concepts. Because merely descriptive do not help one understand why people poor or what strategies could be implemented to overcome their situation. A different scenario arises when poverty defined as systematic denial of social, political rights. If one follows this line thought, overcoming then implies a process expanding citizenship.
