摘要: Emerging literature on climate adaptation suggests the need for effective ways of engaging or activating communities and supporting community roles, coupled with whole-of-system approaches to understanding change needs. We have developed evaluated a participatory approach elicit stakeholder needs, connect diverse members local office bearers towards potential action. The was trialed in series connected social-ecological systems along transect from rural area coast islands ecologically sensitive Moreton Bay Queensland, Australia. conducted ‘climate roundtables’ each three areas transect, then fourth roundtable reviewed extended results region as whole. Influence diagrams produced through process show how variable forecast affect this (heat, storm, flood, sea-level rise, fire, drought) affects natural environment, infrastructure, economic social behaviour patterns, psychosocial responses, sets people, species ecosystems are affected, act, differentially. proved way building empathy, knowledge base empowering participants join future Key principles highlighted assist adapting use elsewhere.
