摘要: Abstract Background and purpose This work reports a detailed study carried out in two UK radiotherapy centres of the dosimetric accuracy collapsed cone algorithm commercial treatment planning system (Helax-TMS) simulated clinical situations. Materials methods Initially homogeneous media is evaluated for an extensive set simple complex fields. Water, lung bone substitute epoxy resin material were then used to assess inhomogeneous compare its with pencil beam currently use. Finally semi-anatomic phantom anthropomorphic employed using ups. Thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) measurements made ionisation chambers otherwise. Nominal 4, 6 15 MV photon beams studied. Results For most cases agreement between measured calculated dose within ±2% or ±2 mm. In heterogeneities situations it observed that also generally Specific instances where difference values exceed this are highlighted. Conclusions It can be concluded present should considered preference algorithms normally but there may still some discrepancy calculations measurement.
