摘要: Evidence for drug resistance in giardiasis is reviewed and biochemical studies undertaken to determine the basis this are discussed. Metronidazole furazolidone, which produce toxic radicals within cell, have different mechanisms of action. Resistance metronidazole negatively correlated with intracellular concentration pyruvateferredoxin oxidoreductase leading a concomitant decrease uptake free into while furazolidone appears be due an increase thiol cycling enzymes. At molecular level associated DNA changes. probes hybridize specific chromosomes repetitive sequences indicate that rearrangements both at chromosome occurred concurrently development resistance. The problems cross-resistance treatment failures occur absence additional difficulties important implications management individual patients. New drugs such as azithromycin, showing great variation activity against stocks may useful treating some refractory cases giardiasis. In community, it recognize occurrence spread resistant Giardia, markers, probes, provide methods monitor potential epidemics Giardia.
