摘要: Omeprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor recently approved in the United States for treatment of gastric ulcer disease horses. A study was designed to determine effects omeprazole on physiological indices performance horses during incremental treadmill exercise. In crossover-design carried out over 2 weeks, five completed standardized exercise tests high-speed either with no or omeprazole. No statistically significant were found mean maximum responses specific oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, number steps completed, concentration plasma lactate, heart rate achieved, total run time protocol. The results indicate unlikely be associated marked enhancement athletic performance.
