摘要: Portions of pancreases from 19.5-day fetal rats were grown in organ culture on two types liquid media: low glucose, containing 162 to 170 mg. glucose/100 ml.; high 1,031 1,073 ml. Following four days culture, the tissues extracted and assayed for insulin content (immunoassay). Other cultures transplanted maternal hosts at sites: beneath capsule kidney into anterior chamber eye. Ten later, transplants removed content. Large quantities immunologically active present media following forty-eight ninety-six hours incubation. Expiants exhibited a four- sixfold increase vitro. Pancreatic expiants cultured glucose medium contained less extractable than similar ex-plants medium. When with normal blood levels, total grafts was 55 per cent 130 greater that time transplantation. alloxan diabetic hosts, found hosts. A small but statistically significant drop level observed hyperglycemie receiving pancreas. These results indicate continued growth functional responsiveness islet beta cells during subsequent
