摘要: Abstract Stage V and adult females of the marine copepod Calanus helgolandicus were fed in laboratory on dinoflagellate Scrippsiella trochoidea at three concentrations calculated to represent pelagic ocean ‘bloom’ conditions. The identification quantification sterols, fatty acids alcohols present algal diet, copepods their faecal pellets then carried out using computerized gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (C-GC-MS). grazing rates animals measured data combined with those lipid distributions diet order determine quantitatively fate each during its passage through gut . results showed marked differences proportion classes removed, highest values found for lowest sterols. Up 97% ingested removed by copepod, a preference towards removal polyunsaturated acids. Algal sterols also ; percentage composition concentration differing from all food levels. Evidence that lipids represented assimilation was provided further finding feeding period (20 hr) increased animal tissues. Quantitative measurements individual revealed significant amounts 4-methyl 4-desmethyl having 8(14) 17(20) unsaturation dietary In contrast, ring-saturated stanols not appear pass quantitatively.
