摘要: Earthquakes are reported to be preceded by anomalous increases in satellite-recorded thermal emissions, but published results often contradicting and/or limited short periods and areas around the earthquake. We apply a methodology that allows detect subtle, localized spatio-temporal fluctuations hyper-temporal, geostationary-based land surface temperature (LST) data. study 10 worldwide, covering 20 large (Mw > 5.5) shallow (< 35 km) land-based earthquakes. compare years locations with without earthquake, we statistically evaluate our findings respect distance from epicentra temporal coincidence anomalies throughout duration of all datasets, at various distances earthquake alike. find no distinct repeated patterns case earthquakes happen same region different years. conclude do not have significant effect on detected LST anomalies.
