摘要: The objectives of this study were to investigate Tuberculosis (TB) knowledge, perceived risk, and risk behaviors in a sample homeless persons with latent TB the Skid Row district Los Angeles. Particular emphasis was given comparing these variables among varying ethnic backgrounds those who did not report history injection drug use (IDU). Baseline data collected from 415 individuals recruited participate chemoprophylaxis intervention. Areas interest relative knowledge for infection behavioral factors surrounding substance abuse; personal measured terms current depression; sociodemographic situational factors, such as age, ethnicity, incarceration, duration homelessness. Findings revealed differences abuse. IDUs more likely have histories daily alcohol dependency, but less apt recent crack cocaine. deficits centered on ignorance respect modes transmission infection. IDU also associated depression. Latinos most lack knowledge. There is pressing need accessible, available, culturally acceptable sustained screening intervention programs designed address multiple populations.
