摘要: Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to estimate the rate gastrointestinal (GI) events, and association between GI events compliance with osteoporosis therapy among osteoporotic women. Methods A retrospective cohort using a large administrative claims database in United States from 2001 through 2010 conducted. We studied women ≥ 55 years old who were continuously enrolled health plan for at least 2 years, baseline year before follow-up after date first prescription oral bisphosphonate as treatment. Compliance measured medication possession ratio (MPR), defined MPR ≥ 0.8. Multivariate logistic regression used assess occurrence controlling demographic clinical characteristics. Results sample consisting 75,593 taking one mean (SD) age 64 (8) years identified. total 21,142 (28%) patients experienced event during period. Only 31,306 (41%) compliant therapy. Patients initiation bisphosphonates 29% less likely adhere compared did not experience (odds [95% CI], 0.71 [0.69–0.74]; P Conclusions Less than half within initiating bisphosphonates, likelihood significantly lower by events.
