摘要: Objective: The purpose of this research was to determine the number bariatric procedures in obese men and women a well-defined population examine gender differences among patients. Research Methods Procedures: Data on patients were taken from North Carolina Hospital Discharge Database, which contains information all nonfederal hospital discharges 1990 2001. Using Data, Census resident estimates, obesity prevalence we constructed annual rates for male female Carolina. Results: Overall, 2197 performed between rate increased rapidly, particularly 1998 2001, whereas increase considerably less than that women. Controlling age year procedure, odds ratio residents having procedure 4.96 (95% confidence interval: 4.39, 5.59) Roux-en-Y 5.57 4.67, 6.64) compared with residents. age, comorbidity burden, payment source, had significantly greater (22%) amount inpatient days residents. Discussion: After controlling are more likely undergo surgery, suggesting gender-related factors may influence use. More is needed causes large disparity.
