Why Teachers Leave Teaching: The Case of Pretertiary Institutions in Ghana.

摘要: In Ghana, many professional teachers have been leaving teaching to seek employment in jobs that they think hold promise of better pay and prestige. This article critically examines the key factors compel leave profession for other jobs. Thirty professionally trained who had taught at pretertiary institutions a minimum 5 years before abandoning participated study. The snowball sampling technique was used selecting respondents, whereas interview gather data. study revealed poor remuneration loss status prestige among reasons abandon profession. One recommendation, others, is raise salary levels level more competitive with those help retain best brightest Ghana Education Service.
