摘要: Disruption of the central nervous system (CNS) barriers is one major pathophysiological consequences bacterial meningitis. The increase in permeability CNS caused by disruption thought to contribute development adverse neurological outcomes. We have established a method which barrier can be demonstrated gadolinium-enhancement ratio (GER) calculated from T₁ weighted image (T₁WI) based on gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (GdEMRI). present study examined such as blood-brain (BBB), blood-cerebrospinal fluid (BCSFB) and blood-arachnoid (BAB) rats with meningitis induced lipopolysaccharide (LPS)- or interleukin (IL)-1β. Four hours after intracisternal injection LPS IL-1β, severe BAB, but not BBB BCSFB, was observed. This suggests that rather than plays key role influx blood-borne cells substances during BAB therefore more vulnerable BCSFB rats. In addition, GdEMRI GER analysis appears useful spatio-temporal studies function under various physiological pathological conditions.
