摘要: Summary The dry matter (DM) yield and herbage quality of swards sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia), meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis,) tetraploid perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) grown in monocultures four sainfoin:grass mixtures (0AE33 sainfoin:0AE66 fescue, 0AE66 sainfoin:0AE33 0AE33 ryegrass), established by direct sowing or undersowing spring barley, were investigated over 3 years a field experiment the UK. Direct produced mean across all species 1AE8 t DM ha )1 establishment year, whereas no measurable except for that barley. Undersowing reduced yields sainfoin-grass first fullharvest year but not second. annual monoculture was 7AE53 8AE33 averaged years. Both had higher than grass monocultures. mixture gave highest (9AE07 ) There proportion maintained with fescue. sainfoin‐meadow declined from 0AE62 to 0AE32 third sainfoin‐perennial increased 0AE48 0AE67 second remained stable year.
