摘要: Background Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is characterized by recurrent, painful, shallow, round or oval oral ulcers surrounded inflammatory halos. Aim of the work To investigate status vitamin D in RAS patients and relationship between levels severity RAS. Patients methods In this cross sectional study 46 with idiopathic minor (MIRAS), 49 age sex matched healthy controls were included. Patients at least 3 a year without any known cause for determined as recurrent stomatitis. The was assessed number each attack frequency attacks. 25-Hydroxy [25(OH) D] measured Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method control groups. Results The mean 25(OH) level MIRAS group lower than (12.1 ± 7.7 ng/dl vs. 27.4 ± 9.7 ng/dl, p = 0.0001). Insufficiency deficiency groups more common those (Vitamin sufficient, Vitamin insufficient deficient (p < 0.0001 all cases)). No correlation found serum duration RAS, attack, attacks (p < 0.05 cases). Conclusions Our suggests that may be trigger factor RAS.
