We sought determine the natural history RH young trauma and identify patterns suggestive chronicity order help establish timing METHODS: The medical records 20, too numerous count [TNTC]). RESULTS: A total 91 eyes 52 were studied. All had IRH (62 TNTC). In all but one eye, resolved none or mild within 1-2 weeks. TNTC did not persist beyond a few days. longest an isolated persisted was 32 Preretinal hemorrhage (PRH) present 68 eyes, persisting 5-111 On initial examination, 25% only IRH, 75% both PRH IRH; no PRH. At 2 weeks, 3% 18% both, 45% worsen. CONCLUSIONS: clears rapidly, whereas may for many presence IRHs indicates that occurred days prior suggests weeks since trauma. To accurately these patterns, eye examinations should be completed as soon possible after admission, preferably 24-48 hours.Copyright © 2016 American Association Pediatric Ophthalmology Strabismus.
