摘要: Intrinsic DNA curvature has previously been implicated in the condensation of satellite chromatin. In this article, electrophoretic methods and computer programs for predicting structure from nucleotide sequence were used to determine if is a conserved feature DNA. The results revealed that sequences display wide variation magnitude intrinsic bending. Less than half satellites examined strongly bent when compared with control However, pattern bending was seen all 57 studied. consisted repeating units two 50-60-base pair elements which separated by 20-30-base region low curvature. This resembles qualitatively nucleosome where helix folded approximately turns around histone octomer interrupted less segment center particle. distance between successive pairs also similar average spacing nucleosomes Thus, structures could play some role positioning along order strengthen correlation positioning, have shown position at single major sites. analysis resembling peak satellites. addition, patterns responsible both Likewise, are thought direct rotational orientation sets. These considered terms general model chromatin eukaryotes.
