摘要: Background With more than 300 million infections estimated annually worldwide, dengue is the most prevalent arboviral infection. On Reunion Island, after a large outbreak in 1977–78, only limited episodes of viral circulation or sporadic cases were reported till 2015. Aim Our objective was to document and report on virus occurrence small during austral summer 2015/16 until 2018. Methods Beside mandatory notification biologically confirmed cases, additional systems surveillance set up: estimation dengue-like syndrome people seeking care by their family doctor, emergency department visits related dengue, hospitalised patients deaths classifications. Results After moderate with 231 2017 characterised (97 cases) which, however, persisted winter. By February 2018, number had increased led peak at beginning May More 6,000 this year (dengue type 2 only). In addition, six notified. Conclusion 2017, persistence transmission winter created favourable conditions for emergence an epidemic wave, 2018 second year, opening door wave 2019 potential endemisation disease Island near future.
