摘要: To date, most estimates of the half-life polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in humans have been based on relatively short follow-up periods. address this issue, we determined half-lives PCB congeners occupational origin serum former capacitor workers as part a study conducted 2003-2006--approximately 28 years after their last exposure. A total 241 persons from source population 6798 were interviewed and asked to donate blood sample for congener analysis. subgroup 45 participants also had archived 1976 reanalyzed same 27 by laboratory. Our among these longer than those reported Wolff et al. (1992), due primarily much interval between exposure determination concentrations. Half-lives significantly greater heavy versus light congeners, women men with low high initial Current concentrations, expressed geometric mean wet weight data, averaged 6.7 ng/g entire 241-person cohort, which represents 10-fold decrease values late 1970s, but is still nearly twice average similar age residing area, without In addition, current concentrations remained positively associated earlier exposure, not fresh water fish consumption. general, results support consistent long-duration trend increased body burden cohort compared non-occupationally exposed individuals. The may aid further understanding toxicological/epidemiological consequences PCBs humans.
