摘要: ABSTRACT We examined beaver (Castor canadensis) pond dynamics and associated riparian bird communities, based on call-response surveys. Following water disappearance, abandoned ponds were invaded by grassy areas alder shrubs supported higher species numbers than nearby areas. detected a total of 49 species. At ponds, the mean number was 6.4, whereas it ranged between 2.4 3.1 for active rivers, lakes. Density deciduous graminoid cover, in positively to birds. However, avian diversity lower near clearcuts large Beaver population control or geographic confinement may suppress both spatial temporal creation abandonment, could impact vegetation Nomenclature: Gauthier & Aubry, 1996.
