摘要: Abstract Iron is an essential micronutrient metal for cellular functions but can generate highly reactive oxygen species resulting in oxidative damage. For these reasons its uptake and metabolism regulated. A small dynamic fraction of ferrous iron inside the cell, termed intracellular labile iron, redox-reactive ready to participate multiples reactions enzymes. Due nature determination precise quantification has been a roadblock. However, recent progress development probes are allowing reevaluation our current understanding unmasking new functions. The role regulating epigenome was recently discovered. This chapter examine how modulate histone DNA demethylation pool mediate signaling pathway from cAMP serving as sensor metabolic needs cells.
