Prevalence of colorectal cancer screening in a large medical organization.

摘要: The primary objective of this study was to determine the prevalence colorectal cancer (CRC) screening among eligible patients in a large medical practice. A secondary compare CRC rates obtained from records with physician self-reported recommendation. We conducted retrospective record review 214 ages ≥ 50 years multispecialty organization Houston, Texas, for receipt fecal occult blood test (FOBT), flexible sigmoidoscopy (SIG), and/or colonoscopy (COL). estimated using two definitions: ( ) FOBT past year or SIG 5 COL 10 years; and b years. Contingency table logistic regression analysis used associations between outcomes Our population 48% male mean age 63 (range: 53–84 years). One-quarter showed by 3-day kit (51 214) 27% digital rectal exam (57 214). recorded 32% records. Half (54%) had documentation according definition no. 1 19% 2. Screening lower than those derived self-report. findings underscore need interventions improve care settings.
