Colorectal cancer screening by primary care physicians in two medical care organizations.

摘要: The objectives of this study were to (1) evaluate self-reported practices colorectal cancer (CRC) screening among primary care physicians (PCPs) in medical organizations and (2) identify factors associated with performance. We surveyed a census sample 204 PCPs from two Houston, TX. Outcomes PCPs' self-reports fecal occult blood test (FOBT) and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy (FS).2-7 Independent variables included physician demographics, perception efficacy, level agreement guidelines, perceptions barriers. Variables compared using Student's t-tests, Chi-square, Fisher's exact tests. Regression was used examine reports screening. Our response rate 56% (n = 115). Many reported recommending performing/ordering both FOBT (82%) FS (87%). They more often believing that "very effective" for reducing mortality than (76% vs. 37%). Physicians perceived barriers patient compliance CRC stronger making recommendations. Significant test-specific differences found. Results revealed high awareness practice population. Further examination how influence by will be important improving population rates.
