摘要: Bariatric surgery is the most efficacious procedure for eliciting weight loss in humans, and many patients undergoing experience significant lessening of their symptoms type-2 diabetes addition to losing weight. We have adapted two bariatric surgical procedures commonly employed humans a rat model begin understand mechanisms underlying improvements energy homeostasis. Young adult male rats received either roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) or vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) were assessed body weight, food intake parameters glucose homeostasis over 28-week period. Control sham else unoperated. RYGB VSG had comparable beneficial effects relative controls. They ate less lost more they both improved parameters. The intriguing aspect findings that such similar spite quite different rearrangements gastrointestinal system.
