摘要: Abstract In the broadacre dryland farming system of Western Australia herbicide resistance in major crop weeds is an increasingly serious problem. A new option to combat involves growing eastern star clover ( Trifolium dasyurum ). This a pasture legume with unique delayed germination that allows control using various chemical and non-chemical strategies, without unduly compromising pasture’s subsequent production. study assesses role value managing herbicide-resistant on farms. The employs model known as MIDAS, whole-farm, bioeconomic model. Key scenarios different degrees severity for three farm types are examined. main findings analysis increases, becomes attractive option. Although introduction does reduce farm’s capacity carry sheep, thereby lessens profits generated by sheep enterprise, it enables longer, more profitable sequences crops be grown fewer weed problems. Sensitivity suggests reduced cost seed, cheap supplementary feed, higher grain prices will further increase profitability clover.
