摘要: This study estimates the abatement cost of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for a unit electricity generated in UK from wood pellets imported Southern USA. We assumed that only pulpwood obtained loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) plantations was used manufacturing exported pellets. The use generation could save at least 69.9 % GHG relative to coal-based UK. average production (US$222.3 MWh−1) higher by 30.0 than coal (US$171.0 without any price support. In presence payments established support mechanisms Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and Levy Exemption (LECs), (US$142.9 lower about 16.0 coal. Policy makers should consider 1 MWh equivalent 0.58 ROCs or 0.71 absence LECs, respectively. will ensure zero lead economic efficiency reducing emissions. However, more in-depth analysis focusing on market risks power-generating companies other pellet supply chains is required before modifying existing equivalency factors ensuring continuous displacing
