摘要: Lung cancer is the leading killer in USA. Proton beam therapy offers both unique promise and special dosimetric challenges compared with photons treating lung cancer. It essential to account for density changes along path of proton during treatment. Simulation 4D CT scanning can help tumor motion due breathing. therapy being evaluated stage 1 locally and/or regionally advanced 3 non-small cell as a means improve local control shield critical normal tissues within thorax from harmful effects radiation. For medically inoperable disease, stereotactic hypofractionated body evaluated. unresectable combined chemotherapy studied. Selected clinical studies are discussed.
