摘要: The use of chemotherapy in treating children with newly diagnosed ependymoma is currently being investigated, both clinically and experimentally. Assessment the true efficacy this modality hampered by a lack prospective randomized trials comparing conventional treatment schemes aggressive surgical excision followed radiation therapy or without addition chemotherapy. Although current regimens, role disease appears limited, measurable responses have been recognized. Preliminary studies support potential infants an effort to delay even avoid therapy, although chemotherapy, exceeding 12 months inadvisable. Additionally, preliminary data suggest that incompletely resected tumors, may be benefit as adjunct second-look surgery. Experimental work investigating chemotherapeutic sensitivity, molecular genetics, mechanisms overcome drug resistance offer some utilizing for childhood.
