A survey of urinary iodine concentration in south-east of Caspian Sea in northern, Iran.

摘要: The objective of this study was to evaluate the urinary iodine concentration in Gorgan located northern Iran, which is a cosmopolitan society and on basis such determination endemic goiter region could be estimated. sample population were total 287 people (23.3% male, 76.7% female) referred Danesh Medical Diagnostic Laboratory for measurement, during 2004-05. Urinary level determined using acid digestion method. results from indicated that 2.1, 3.8 9.8% had <2, 2-4.9 5-9.9 microg dL(-1), respectively are defined as sever, moderate mild deficiency. Therefore 45 (15.7%) assessed prevalence, mean differences male female subjects not significant. In conclusion, low <10 dL(-1) may help give direction further examination thyroid gland abnormalities.
