摘要: Casearia sylvestris is common in tropical America growing wild Brazil the states of Amazonas and Sao Paulo. Its leaves are used Brazilian folk medicine for several diseases. The present investigation was carried out to examine genotoxic effects a C. crude ethanolic extract on Hepatoma Tissue Culture (HTC cells) Rattus norvegicus Chinese hamster V79 cells culture, using comet assay. For evaluation were treated with three different concentrations (0.5, 1 2 mg/ml) prepared from 25 mg/ml aqueous solution. positive control cyclophosphamide HTC methyl methanesulfonate cells. duration treatment h. results showed that presented no not modified effect inducing DNA damage by alkylating agents V 79 respectivelly.
