Associations between family religious practices, internalizing/externalizing behaviors, and body mass index in obese youth.

摘要: The objective of the present study was to assess associations among family religious practices, internalizing/externalizing behaviors, and body mass index in a sample severely obese youth referred an outpatient pediatric endocrinology clinic. consisted 43 (body index > 95th percentile) aged 6-16 years (mean age = 12.67 years). Approximately 93% families endorsed their faith as Christian or Catholic. Parents were administered demographic questionnaire, religiosity Child Behavior Checklist. Three multiple linear regression models examined with percentile, Checklist Internalizing Scale, Externalizing Scale outcome variables. A parent endorsing greater importance shaping life associated lower child percentile (p < 0.05) sample. Greater attendance at services higher (p < 0.05). Our data suggest that church-based interventions may be one viable option for delivery lifestyle severe obesity.
